Random thoughts often cross the mind of someone who writes fiction. These thoughts make perfect sense to the writer, and to the characters in his/her head. But the casual observer will often be left with a feeling of missing something.

Contemporary Romance in October
What happens in the fiction writer's mind when the seasons change? If we're lucky nothing, because we are usually in the middle of a work in progress and unless we are great planners, that work is not necessarily set in the season in which we live. So as my favorite season is upon me, I can physically enjoy the sights, scents, and sounds of autumn. But mentally, I must remain in the middle of summer, when my current WIP is taking place. Sadly, I have to make certain that none of the things I am enjoying in my physical time bleed into my writing. After all, has anyone ever carved an Independence Day Jack-O-Lantern?
